This is a Japanese restaurant located on Bridge Road in Richmond. I had read a lot of good reviews about this restaurant so I decided to try this place out. But for me, it was a bittersweet experience.
I ordered a Chicken Katsu, Poke Salmon Don, and Takoyaki. The service was very quick. Takoyaki is a Japanese street food originated in Osaka. These are small balls made with wheat flour batter with small filling inside. These were quite nice. The texture of Tokoyaki was beautiful. It almost melted in my mouth after one bite. I liked this snack a lot.
Chicken Katsu was a bit of disappointment. The chicken was nice. It was cooked perfectly, and the coating on the chicken was crispy but the curry was a bit disappointing. It did not feel fresh, consistency of the curry was too thick and the flavor could have been better as well. I think the portion size of the could have been better as well. I did not enjoy this dish very much.
Poke Salmon Don was really good. The Salmon tasted fresh and the flavor was really nice. All the components in the bowl complemented each other and created a really nice texture together. I liked the mayo in the dish. It added a lot of flavor and held the components together. I loved the edamame and corn in the dish. They gave a very fresh feel to the dish and added a bit of sweet hint to the dish as well.
Overall my experience here was alright. Chicken Katsu could have been better for me but other than that everything was really nice.
